All the parts you need to get your AR's lower ready for an upper.

The piece-by-piece nature of building the AR-15 can get a little overwhelming, especially if it's your first time. That's why we've compiled all the AR-15 parts that you need to complete the "lower half" of your rifle or pistol. With a fully built lower assembly, you can attach a barreled upper receiver, slap in a magazine, and start hitting targets at the local range.

Parts Required to Finish Your AR's Lower

In addition to a fabricated 80% lower receiver or AR-15 stripped receiver bought from an FFL, you'll need the following components which can all be found right here:

  • Buffer tube
  • Buffer
  • Recoil spring
  • Butt stock or brace
  • Lower parts kit (includes hammer, trigger, safety, springs and pins)

New builder? Use our Master guide to pick the right lower parts.

Drop-in Trigger Upgrades

One of the easiest ways to upgrade your AR before you even finish your build is by simply swapping out your factory trigger setup for a drop-in unit, like the ones available from ACT and Rise Armament. These self-contained triggers include the trigger, disconnector, and hammer preinstalled. All you need to do is drop the unit into the receiver, and tap in your pins!

Need help with assembly? Here's how to install the AR-15 lower parts kit.
