If you plan to go the traditional (and the easiest) route with the business end of your .223 or 5.56mm chambered AR by installing a muzzle device, you'll need a crush washer. This is that crush washer. You simply slide it onto the threading of your barrel, tapered end first, crowned end facing out, screw on your muzzle brake, compensator, or flashhider until it's finger-tight and then use your armorer's wrench to time it in quarter turns at a time, backing it off after each one, until the device it aligned properly.
